MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -
Rapid growth in part of Rutherford County is creating a new worry for firefighters.
Fire hydrants may not have enough water pressure when crews get to the scene.
Chief Larry Farley tells our partner at the Daily News Journal that he's especially worried about rural communities west of Interstate 24.
The smaller water mains in those areas can't provide the 500 gallons a minute that firefighters need.
But water officials say if they install larger pipes, the water will sit too long and won't be drinkable.
