
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - The 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell are celebrating 70 years since the inception of the airborne division with a weeklong celebration including games, a concert, an air show and memorials for the fallen.
The celebration at the Army installation on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line kicks off on Friday with a division run involving thousands of soldiers. Also on Friday, one of the division's helicopter units, the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, cases its unit colors in preparation for the upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.
The Week of the Eagles will also include an air show on Saturday and a demonstration of the division's air assault techniques.
