West End Ave. bank robber escapes with cash

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police and the FBI are investigating an armed bank robbery Thursday afternoon in west Nashville.

The robbery was reported around 2:30 p.m. at the Civic Bank and Trust at 3325 West End Avenue.

Police said the robber, who was wearing a mask and carrying a handgun, entered the bank yelling, "robbery, robbery."

The man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said they believe he left in a silver Nissan Altima that was possibly driven by a second person.

Anyone who has information concerning the robbery is urged to contact the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force at 232-7500 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
