COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A former state trooper who was fired back in June for "gross misconduct" has now been indicted.
Initially, the highway patrol wouldn't say exactly why Trooper Jonathan Reed was being fired from the Cookeville post, but it looks like it stemmed from driving under the influence and having a loaded weapon on him at the time, which is what he is now charged with.
Both of the charges are a Class A misdemeanor and carry a possible sentence of up to a year in jail.
Officials with the Department of Safety wouldn't say whether he was on duty or in a patrol car when the incident happened.
