NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
For the past three weeks, all of the 21 Kroger stores in Davidson County have collected school supplies through donations.
On Thursday, those donations were given to LP Pencil Box, a program which allows Metro teachers to get free supplies for their classrooms, and supplies that teachers normally pay for with their own money.
"You need supplies to learn," said one teacher at the event. "I know that they do receive a small supplement from Metro, but we're here to supplement that from them."
LP Pencil Box is a year-round program that teachers can visit twice a year to get new supplies.
Kroger usually supplies $20,000 in their annual back-to-school donation.
