Suspect surrenders after standoff with police

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A standoff with a wanted man ended peacefully late Wednesday night.

Officers tried to serve warrants on Timothy Gifford at a home on J.C. Napier Street around 9:30 p.m.

He wouldn't come out, so officers called in the SWAT team.

As the team made its preparations to move in, Gifford decided to surrender.

Investigators have nine warrants for Gifford. Eight of the warrants are felonies including charges of especially aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
