Some Southwest Airlines customers are finding their bank accounts have been hit multiple times after they took advantage of the airline's one-day 50 percent off sale.
According to several posts on the airline's Facebook page, some customers were charged as many as five to six times as part of a system glitch.
Southwest's customer service phone line, 1-800-I-FLY, was not answering calls when Channel 4 staffers called several times Saturday morning.
In a statement, Southwest Airlines Communications spokesperson Ashley Dillon said, "Our customers were extremely excited to take advantage of the limited-time offer we shared yesterday in celebration of reaching three million fans on Facebook. Due to the overwhelming response, we experienced some site performance issues at various times throughout the day. We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience and are proactively canceling any duplicate itineraries that may have occurred."
