NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A popular restaurant chain has now become a target for thieves. Police believe a dangerous duo has robbed four different Cracker Barrels over the past few weeks.
Now, authorities want your help catching the crooks before they hit again.
"It is bizarre. I've been with the police department for 24 years, and it's just a rare thing," said Metro Police Lt. John Drake. "For it to happen so many times in a short time span, it is strange"
Police believe two serial robbers, each armed with a gun, teamed up to rob the Cracker Barrel on Stewarts Ferry Pike, two others in Franklin, KY, and another in Manchester.
"Right now, they're motive for picking this particular chain of restaurants, we don't know yet," Drake said.
In surveillance video, it is clear the pair, a man and woman, have the same tactics. They first spend some time scoping out the area. They then wait for the store to close and managers to come outside.
That's when the crooks push the managers back in, force the employees to the back of the restaurant and take off with some cash.
There are some unique characteristics investigators want you to notice. The man has a sort of strange walk or limp, and the woman carries a holster on her hip.
"Most people stick them in their waistbands or hold them in their hands. So to have a holster, it's strange," Drake said.
Police have no way of knowing whether the duo will try and strike again, but they said this should serve as a good reminder for those leaving anywhere at night to take a good look around before exiting a building. They also suggest having a buddy walk with you to your car.
If you see anything that looks suspicious, call police.
