Plenty of changes in Metro School Board after election

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

There will be some changes in the Metro School Board following Thursday's election.

In District One, Sharon Gentry beat out fellow board member Ed Kindall in a race set up by recent redistricting.

Other winners for school board seats included:

  • Jill Speering won the District Three seat.
  • In District Five, Elissa Kim beat current board president Gracie Porter.
  • Will Pinkston will serve in District Seven.
  • In District Nine, Amy Frogge will represent west Nashville and Bellevue

"I, along with many others across the city, want to see a Nashville where all kids, no matter where they grow up, no matter their background, get the opportunity to get an excellent education. That really opens up choice and opportunity in life," Kim said.

"I'm really interested in building community driven neighborhood schools, and we've been able to do some of that around here. Obviously that's something that really resonated," Frogge said.
