MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -
Thirteen attorneys have applied to fill the Circuit Court vacancy in the 16th Judicial District, which serves Rutherford and Cannon counties.
The vacancy was created by the appointment of Circuit Court Judge Don R. Ash as Senior Judge.
The Judicial Nominating Commission will hold a public meeting to interview the 13 candidates.
The candidates for the position are: Keta J. Barnes, Kirk D. Catron, Tolbert Franklin Gilley III, Sonya W. Henderson, Brad W. Hornsby, Trevor H. Lynch, Thomas Earl Parkerson, Russell Nelson Perkins, Mark A. Polk, M. Keith Siskin, Barry R. Tidwell, Alicia C. B. Widrig, and Howard W. Wilson.
A public hearing will be held Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Rutherford County Courthouse in Murfreesboro in the second floor courtroom.
During the public hearing, attorneys and members of the public may express their approval or objections to the candidates.
Following the public hearing, the commission will interview each applicant before recommending three candidates to the governor.
Members of the public are invited to attend both the public hearing and the interviews.
