NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

An East Tennessee man is in trouble with the law after he apparently misidentified a person whose face is seemingly everywhere.

Lowell Turpin, 40, of Clinton, TN, saw a photo of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on his girlfriend's Facebook page. He didn't recognize Romney and demanded to know who the man was, suspecting his girlfriend was having an affair, according to an Anderson County sheriff's report.

When his girlfriend told him it was Romney, Turpin allegedly attacked her.

Turpin smashed his girlfriend's laptop into a wall then punched her, deputies said.

Turpin was charged with domestic assault and jailed on $1,000 bond.
