DICKSON, TN (WSMV) -
Two people were killed and another person was injured in a wreck Monday evening in Dickson County.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the single-vehicle wreck was reported in the 3000 block of Highway 70 around 6:45 p.m.
A 1991 Nissan Sentra, driven by Theodore G. Cunningham II of Dickson, TN, was traveling east on Highway 70. He went to pass in an illegal passing area, which caused the car to go off the road, according to a THP report.
The vehicle struck a tree on the passenger front section of vehicle and ejected the rear seat passenger, identified as 27-year-old Anthony J. Rivera of Dickson, TN.
The car landed in the woods on top of Rivera from the waist up, killing him. Cunningham also died in the crash.
A third occupant of the vehicle, Justin McDaniel, 19, of Gallatin was injured and taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
