Wreck blocks several westbound lanes of I-40

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Several lanes of westbound Interstate 40 are blocked near Stewarts Ferry Pike following a wreck involving multiple vehicles Monday afternoon.

The wreck was reported around 4:50 p.m. near exit 219 for Stewarts Ferry Pike and the Percy Priest Dam.

At least three lanes are blocked, and the Tennessee Department of Transportation estimates they will be fully re-opened by 9 p.m.

Officials said a police officer was in the area assisting another driver when several other vehicles wrecked.

No other information on the wreck has been released, including any possible injuries.
