Man returns home, finds house on fire

"I lost everything," said Kemur Bryant as fire crews worked to gain control of the blaze that badly damaged his home. "This is just really hard."

According to Bryant, he was coming home from a friend's house at about 4:30 Saturday afternoon when he saw smoke coming from his bedroom window.

"I went around to the front of the house and I was about to unlock the door, but before I got to the door, I saw the smoke coming from the roof," he explained. "So I just got on the phone and called 911."

Fire officials on the scene told Channel 4 there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the Judd Drive home when they arrived.

They were able to get the blaze knocked down quickly, but not before the flames caused a substantial amount of damage.

"It's not a total loss, but there's pretty heavy damage," said Nashville Fire Chief Lenny Manning.  "Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one side of the house and they did a good job extinguishing it."

Unfortunately, flames destroyed Bryant's bedroom and everything inside.  "It's hard.  I'm gonna take it slow, but all I can do right now is pray," he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
