NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Vanderbilt is finishing the final renovations to their football stadium, including figuring out the best mixture of sand and rubber pebbles for its new artificial turf.

The Tennessean reports that the renovations will be completed in the next couple of weeks, but officials are looking closely at the turf and how it will affect players and the games.

New lights are also going into the stadium this week and a 50-foot by 72-foot high definition video screen will also be installed. They are also adding a grass hill in the north end zone that will add 500 more fans to the stadium's capacity. The team's season opener is Aug. 30 against South Carolina.
