Columbia club deemed a public nuisance

COLUMBIA, TN (WSMV) -

A club in Columbia, deemed a public nuisance, will remain closed for at least a few more weeks.

The Country Club Restaurant and Lounge on East Eighth Street was padlocked last Friday after the district attorney's office filed a primary injunction, calling the nightclub a nuisance.

According to our news partners at the Columbia Daily Herald, the owner of the club hired a lawyer Tuesday.

So to give attorneys on both sides time to prepare, a court hearing was delayed and will be rescheduled in the next few weeks.

Since March, two people have died from injuries they sustained just outside the club's doors.

The business has also been operating without a license for the last four months.

The club's doors will remain closed until after that hearing when a judge will decide if the nightclub should be permanently closed.
