More than 200 volunteers spent the day cramming school supplies into backpacks, then loading them into a big truck at Napier Elementary.
The event is called "Stuff The Bus"and the supplies will be delivered to students in need.
One volunteer said, "We know that it's very important for kids to start the school year off right, and Stuff The Bus allows a lot of kids in the community who perhaps wouldn't have these resources to really get started off on the right foot."
United Way will be distributing the supplies and backpacks through their family resource centers and United Way partnering agencies in Nashville.
