SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) -
A mother and son waived their rights to a preliminary hearing Thursday evening in Smyrna on charges related to the shooting death of the mother's boyfriend.
Christina Rosa Magaddino and her 20-year-old son, Ryan Allen Roe, were arrested for the death of 38-year-old Steven Eugene Carlton of Murfreesboro, who was found dead earlier this month at a boat ramp off Percy Priest Lake.
Police charged Roe with first-degree murder and his mother was charged as an accessory after the fact of murder. Both are charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting, but have said that Magaddino helped her son move Carlton's body from her apartment where police believe the shooting took place.
Magaddino was originally being held on a $1.5 million bond, but it was later reduced to $25,000. Roe's bond was set at $250,000.
The case has been bound over to the grand jury. The district attorney said he's not sure yet if the prosecution will pursue the death penalty.
