Megan Sharpton murder investigation takes new direction

TULLAHOMA, TN (WSMV) -

Weeks have passed since Megan Sharpton's burning body was found by a passing driver on a remote road in Franklin County. Franklin County sheriff's investigators have not been able to turn up one clue that will lead to her killer.

Now investigators are hoping security video from gas stations dozens of miles from where Sharpton's body was found will yield some clue to a killer. It's tedious work. One of the lead investigators, Chris Guess, told Channel 4 News they are pouring through volumes of video, hoping to place Sharpton at a certain place and time before her murder.

A reward fund is steadily growing through the sale of Sharpton T-shirts and wrist bands. So far $15,000 has gone into the fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer. Sharpton's mother, Kelly Sharpton, said finding her daughter's killer has been all-consuming.

"It's my every thought, when I wake up, the last thought when I lay my head down, and all night long," said Kelly Sharpton.

A Facebook page, "Peace For Megan Sharpton," has been set up for people to donate to the reward fund and to buy Megan Sharpton T-shirts and wrist bands.
