MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

A woman was killed and a father and child were injured in a crash on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County on Wednesday.

Investigators said a 1999 Audi was traveling east on Interstate 24 near exit 97 and Highway 64 when the driver, identified as Andrew Ivanchuk, 21, of Wildwood, MO, fell asleep just before 7 a.m.

The car traveled off the left side of the roadway, causing the driver to overcorrect to the right. The car then crossed both lanes of I-24 and traveled off the right side of road, striking several large trees, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Danielle Janette Ivanchuk, 21, of Wildwood, MO, died in the wreck.

As of Friday, their 3-month-old child, Veralyn Ivanchuk, remained in critical but stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Andrew Ivanchuk was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Investigators said the child was properly restrained, but neither the driver nor passenger were wearing their seat belts.
