MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

A Rutherford County sheriff's deputy was treated for exposure to meth fumes Monday night after he stopped to give two pedestrians a ride.

Deputy Mark Gregory and his passengers were decontaminated and treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center after officials said the deputy stopped to help a couple walking along Old Woodbury Highway at about 10:15 p.m.

The man told the deputy they were at a home where people were cooking meth, so the deputy offered to drive the couple to a safe place. But while driving, Gregory and the woman both became ill due to meth fumes.

Investigators later searched a home nearby and found two containers used in the manufacture of meth.

Detectives talked to the victims at the hospital and identified some suspects, but no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed.
