Technology helping golfers refine swing

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

New technology is always coming out to help golfers refine their swings and the TaylorMade Performance Lab in Gaylord Springs is another technology on the ever-growing list.

Behind a high-vaulted door is a room with six high-speed cameras with six lenses on each camera that allow the cameras to examine the movement of the golfer and the club.

To help the cameras track the movement, the golfers must wear tracking sensors on the feet, knees, elbows and along with a specialized vest, on their club and cap.

It's the same type of technology used in major motion pictures and video games.

The sensors capture the player's movement and create a three-dimensional image that can be viewed from any angle. Its purpose is to gather the data necessary to get the perfect club or putter for the golfer.

It can also be used to better show what, exactly, is wrong with the golfer's swing. Golfers can even compare their images to the ones captured by the pros.

"We not fitting you necessarily for your best golf shots. We fitting you for what your misses are. to limit how bad of a miss it is," said Chase Brannon, manager and master fitter of the TaylorMade Performance Lab.

If you are interested in trying out the TaylorMade Performance Lab, you can attend their open house on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28.
