CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Montgomery County election officials said they need more poll volunteers for election day.
According to The Leaf Chronicle, adding five new precincts for this election has put a strain on resources. County Election Administrator Vickie Koelman said so has this being a later election. Koelman said many people who usually volunteer are on vacation or watching grandchildren at the time of the Aug. 2 election.
She said 20 more paid volunteers are still needed. Volunteers must be registered voters who take a training class. They will be needed 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on election day.
Koelman says the volunteers get small pay for a big service in assisting voters.
