Therapy dog believed stolen from Gallatin woman

GALLATIN, TN (WSMV) -

A woman in Gallatin desperately needs your help finding her therapy dog.

Police believe he was picked up at a local gas station after he got away. But, they haven't been able to track down the couple who took him.

Nothing lights up Amy Watson's face more than when she talks about Amadeus. Amadeus is her 6-year-old dog.

Watson lost 85 percent of her hearing and she relies on Amadeus for help. But, the lab-beagle mix got scared on the Fourth of July and ran away.

"I could not hear the fireworks. He got spooked and dug his way out," said Watson.

Amadeus was spotted at the Sudden Service station near Airport and Coles Ferry roads in Gallatin on July 6 with a couple.

The problem is, police say, the couple was told Amadeus belonged to Watson and were even given a flyer with her contact information.

But, he has not been returned yet. Now, Gallatin police and Watson are asking for your help. If you have any idea who the man and woman are or where they are now, call police at (615) 452-1313.

Police said the man and woman seen in surveillance video have not only failed to contact Watson, but Channel 4 News was told the couple has also avoided contact at that gas station where they were regular customers.

Investigators believe the couple works in Gallatin and lives in Westmoreland.

Watson said she doesn't want anyone to get in trouble, but she just wants Amadeus back. Without him, it's hard for her to do the things she loves and needs to do.

Police said Amadeus is microchipped and can be identified through that chip if he is found.
