COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A teenager said she is still terrified after a strange man showed up at her home, but perhaps even more troubling is how that man got her personal information.
The whole ordeal began when someone hacked the girl's Facebook account then posted the girl's home address on an unrestricted website.
"From the looks of him, he was pretty scary," said the girl's father.
The family didn't want their identities revealed, but the girl's father said he won't let his daughter stay home alone after what happened earlier this week.
"It terrified me, honestly. I went up to my room and just stayed up there all night, couldn't sleep," the girl said.
Whoever hacked the girl's Facebook page flooded it with vulgar and sexual messages.
"I could see them sending messages out to friends as I was on the computer, so I was watching myself getting hacked," the girl said.
What's worse is she found someone had posted her photo and home address on the website MeetMe.com, and things turned scary when a strange man showed up at her Cookeville home.
"The sight of him, there was no doubt what he was there for," the father said.
The man didn't stay long. The girl's father, already aware of the hacked Facebook page, said he wasn't very nice to the visitor.
"I said, 'you've got about 3 seconds to get off my property now,'" the father said.
The girl said she has no clue who is responsible for all of this, but she and her father are worried someone else may come back.
"She now knows how to shoot shotguns," the father said.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is taking the case very seriously.
"We're putting a concentrated effort on that area, and I know there's two detectives looking at the computer situation," said Sheriff David Andrews.
The man who showed up to the home was driving a white 80s model Chevrolet pickup truck with a hood scoop. Investigators want to speak with that man, hoping they may then be able to determine who posted the information online.
