NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Tennessee is one of the deadliest states for fires in the country and was ranked number two in a recent survey.
Forty people have died this year in Tennessee. Last year there were 85 deaths and the year before there were 109.
One aspect that is helping to prevent those numbers from going up is local fire departments have installed 800 fire alarms in homes across the state.
Tennessee's number two ranking for deadly fires includes people from out of state who were brought to the state and later died.
