SPRINGFIELD, TN (WSMV) -
A man is in the hospital after he was shot by a Springfield police officer Wednesday night.
Officers responded to a call of a suicidal man with a shotgun on Hillside Drive.
They surrounded the home and the man fired through the front door of the house.
An officer entered the back of the home, but the man then turned the gun toward the officer. The officer fired his weapon, hitting the man in the shoulder.
The man is recovering at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into the officer's actions.
