NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Tennessee is among the states with counties designated as disaster areas because of the drought.
Tipton and Shelby counties in West Tennessee were named by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as "Primary Natural Disaster" areas along with 39 other counties across the country.
Those counties received this title because of the amount of damage and loss caused by the drought.
Last month cracked the Top 10 of driest Junes in 118 years.
According to the USDA, prices are expect to rise for products made with corn because of deteriorating crop conditions.
