CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man in Montgomery County is accused of burning his own house down earlier this month.

Emergency crews on July 4 at 10 a.m. responded to a fire in the 3600 block of Oakland Road regarding a house fire.

Shortly after emergency personnel arrived, the house was fully engulfed in fire.

The homeowner, Louie Daughtry, 31, arrived at the house a few hours later after being with a friend in Oak Grove, KY.

When police and the fire department began to investigate, they determined that Daughtry poured gasoline inside his garage and set it on fire in an effort to collect insurance.

Police said that Daughtry was heard talking about burning the house down and was observed pouring gasoline inside the garage while about 60 people were at his home.

The home, valued at approximately $130,000, was determined to be a total loss.

Daughtry is charged with arson. His bond was set at $50,000.
