NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is once again considered among the best hospitals in the country, according to the latest rankings by U.S. News and World Report.

In the publication's 2012-13 rankings released Tuesday, Vanderbilt ranked as both the No. 1 hospital in Nashville and No. 1 in Tennessee.

Also, 11 of the hospital's 16 specialty programs were listed among the Top 50 in America in their respective fields, including urology; pulmonology; ear, nose and throat; cardiology and cancer treatment.

"Growing recognition by U.S. News in so many specialties serves as a reminder our efforts are truly making a difference in the lives of our patients," said Dr. Jeff Balser, vice chancellor for Health Affairs and dean of the School of Medicine.
