GREENBRIER, TN (WSMV) -

A Robertson County woman died on Monday morning after she was severely burned in a house fire this weekend, according to Vanderbilt Hospital.

The blaze started around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at a home on Church Street.

The victim, Martha Sharpe, told firefighters her bedroom was engulfed in flames when she woke up.  Sharpe made her way outside the house and collapsed.

Greenbrier Fire Chief Billy Wilson said Sharpe suffered severe burns on over 70 percent of her body.

Sharpe was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center in critical condition but died around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Crews are still investigating the blaze, but at this time, they believe the fire may have been started while the woman was smoking in bed.
