NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police are searching for a man they said robbed a Nashville bank after attempting to rob another bank nearby Friday morning.

Police said the man first approached a teller at the Bank of America branch at 1634 Church Street around 9:15 a.m. and handed over a robbery demand note. When the teller refused to return the note, the man fled the bank empty-handed.

About 10 minutes later, the same man was spotted at the Bank of America branch at 2121 Blakemore Avenue, where he again presented a robbery demand note.

This time, he fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s, approximately 5'10" tall and a medium build. He was wearing plaid shorts, a dark T-shirt, tennis shoes and a ball cap.

Witnesses reported seeing the man riding in the back seat of a black Volkswagen Passat with two other men seated in the front, police said.

Anyone who has information on this case is asked to call the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force at 232-7500 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
