FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -
Two Franklin police officers were able to recover a large amount of athletic equipment stolen after a stakeout in the Cool Spring area on Thursday.
Officers Ben Jones and Nick Grandy were on call when an area-wide alert regarding the theft from an Academy Sports store in Decatur, AL, went out.
The two officers stopped an Alabama vehicle in their surveillance area.
When the driver, Louis Orlando Harmon, 34, of Lake Charles, LA, presented a suspended drivers license, he was arrested.
While inspecting his vehicle, the officers found 28 pairs of stolen athletic shoes, 25 athletic shirts, directions to multiple Academy Sports stores and tools used to remove sensor tags.
The stolen items together are valued at nearly $5,000.
Harmon has a number of charges to his name, which include drugs, theft and assault, and is wanted in both Louisiana and Texas.
Harmon is under the custody of Williamson County Jail, charged with felony theft, possession of an anti-theft device and driving on a suspended license.
