Soggy weather in today's forecast

Posted: Updated:

After weeks of record-breaking temperatures and dry conditions, much of Middle Tennessee will get a solid soaking Thursday.

The 4WARN Weather team is forecasting an 80 percent chance of rain with high temperatures in the low 80s.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected across Middle Tennessee today into tonight as a weak frontal boundary moves northward.

Estimated rainfall totals by 10 p.m. Friday:

  • Nashville: 2.5" to 4"
  • Clarksville: 2.5" to 4"
  • Murfreesboro: 2.5" to 4"
  • Shelbyville: 1.5" to 2.5"
  • Hopkinsville, KY: 1.5" to 2.5"

Some localized flooding is possible with the heaviest showers and storms.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected each day through next week, as an unsettled weather pattern remains in place over the region.

A few storms could be strong each day with gusty winds, small hail, frequent lightning and brief heavy rainfall, but no widespread severe weather is expected.
