TULLAHOMA, TN (WSMV) -
Kelly Sharpton of Tullahoma remembers the last conversation she had with her 24-year-old daughter Meghan Sharpton the day she went missing July 1.
"She called me that afternoon to tell me she loved me, I didn't talk to her again," said Kelly Sharpton.
Meghan Sharpton's body was found early Monday morning by a passing driver on a back road in Franklin County. The driver noticed a brush fire, but at closer inspection, he saw the still burning body of Meghan Sharpton. Franklin County investigators said she had died of blunt force trauma. Why the killer burned her body remains a mystery.
Kelly Sharpton is going through overwhelming emotional pain. While the killer remains at large, Kelly Sharpton has a razor sharp focus to find the person responsible.
"What happened that night, where did she go, why did he take her?" said Kelly Sharpton.
Meghan Sharpton, a nursing student at Motlow College, was just three months from graduating. Kelly Sharpton told Channel 4 News her daughter's death leaves a wound that will never heal.
"She was just fun, full of love, I want people to remember that. She was a gift to us. She was my heart, I need to know what happened to her that night," said Kelly Sharpton.
Authorities are looking for leads in the case. Hours after Meghan's body was discovered, her red Ford Mustang was found in Bedford County.
