OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - A bookkeeper for an Oak Ridge medical practice is charged with embezzling more than $650,000.
According to The Knoxville News Sentinel, 64-year-old Jeffrey L. Russell was indicted on eight forgery counts and two counts of theft. Russell is scheduled for arraignment on Friday and Anderson County prosecutor Dave Clark said he intends to ask that Russell's bond be increased. Russell was held Tuesday at the Anderson County Jail, which does not have records of inmates' attorneys.
Court documents state the theft continued for years while Russell worked for Vascular Diagnostic Center of Oak Ridge Inc.
Dr. David Stanley said the loss is not covered by insurance.
