Democrats choose candidate to replace John Arriola

The Davidson County Democratic Party selected their candidate Monday night to replace former County Clerk John Arriola.

Brenda Wynn, a woman with experience working with former Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell and U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper, was selected.

After getting the nomination, she spoke about restoring public trust and integrity to the office.

Arriola resigned in June after an investigation into tips collected to perform weddings.

The Metro Council will pick an interim County Clerk next month. A special election will then be held in November to replace Arriola.
