Trees damage house, car in Nashville
Lightning sparks house, field fire
Neighbors in several Middle Tennessee counties had a close call Friday afternoon as fast-moving storms left plenty of damage behind.
Lightning is believed to have caused a 30-acre grass fire along South
Commerce Road near Watertown, where one house was deemed a total loss.
On Futura Drive in West Nashville, a tree came crashing down on top of a house and car. The tree also brought a hot power line down with it.
And the damage was even worse in Sumner County, where trees were split, power lines were knocked down and neighbors were left wondering what had happened. Gallatin's Lock 4 Road, Woodsferry Drive and Dorothy Jordan Avenue were all hit especially hard.
And lightning is also to blame for sparking several barn fires across Middle Tennessee. In Wilson County, lightning hit a barn near Old Rome Pike and Carthage Highway. And in Williamson County, a barn was struck along Old Hillsboro Road. Both structures burned to the ground.
There have been no reports of injuries after these storms, and more severe weather is possible through the weekend as record heat mixes with an unstable air mass above Middle Tennessee.
