DICKSON, TN (WSMV) -

A 16-year-old girl who was killed Thursday when she fell from a moving car is being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The victim, Dana Sage, fell head first from a car that was traveling at least 35 mph down Old Blacktop Road in McEwen in Humphreys County, according to TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm.

Her boyfriend, Wesley Kyle Perry, 18, was the only other person in the vehicle.

Perry told investigators she fell asleep and fell from the car, but authorities said the car's door was fully operational and notified the DA, who in turn, requested that TBI investigate.

The TBI said Perry is cooperating with the investigation.  A full autopsy is under way.
