McMINNVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Officials have identified the two people who died after a head-on crash that also injured a child Friday morning in Warren County.

A Chrysler minivan was traveling east along Highway 55 just before 7 a.m. when it crossed into the westbound lanes, striking a Pontiac Grand Am head-on, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Both drivers died in the wreck, which occurred near Warren County High School.

They were identified as Rita Greene, 55, and Terry McCormick, 43, both of McMinnville.

A 2-year-old passenger riding in the Grand Am with McCormick was properly restrained and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the THP.

"It took a long time to get everybody out. I stood here in the yard and watch them," witness Larry Slatton said.

Slatton lives feet away from where the fatal crash happened this morning.

"It was about one of the worse I've ever witness," Slatton said. "It was bad."

THP officials said McCormick was not wearing his seat belt, but Troopers don't believe it would have mattered because of the violent impact.

McCormick would have celebrated his 44th birthday next month.
