NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Three homeless people have been charged with a stabbing at the Stones River Greenway in Hermitage.

Police said a 49-year-old man was walking on the greenway Wednesday and got into an argument with three homeless people identified as Rachel Marcinek, 20, Joseph Ostling, 36, and 30-year-old Marcus Marcelo.

Investigators said during the argument one of the three homeless people stabbed the victim in the neck.

The man is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Police said they believe Marcinek and Marcelo raveled to Nashville by freight train from Arizona.  Ostling was known to be living in a tent near Mills Road earlier this year.

Detectives said they plan to speak with the victim as his condition improves to get a better understanding why the argument and stabbing occurred.
