Principal: Delete Facebook account or be expelled

Posted: Updated:

Students at a school in Australia are facing a serious ultimatum - quit Facebook or be expelled.

The school's principal took the controversial stance as she tries to combat cyberbullying, according to The Age newspaper. Leioni Hultgren told students if they aren't at least 13 years old, they need to delete their Facebook page if they want to stay enrolled in her school.

Facebook's minimum age for its users is 13, but many young people lie about their age in order to begin an account.

The principal said Facebook fuels cyberbullying and if parents won't help stop the problem, she will.
