U.S. Vice President Joe Biden visited Nashville on Monday to attend a fundraiser at a private residence in Forest Hills.

The vice president landed in Music City at about 11:45 a.m. and his motorcade caused several road closures through mid-afternoon.

Biden's motorcade made an unscheduled stop at Foundations Christian Academy, where school officials tell Channel 4 he briefly met with the students.

Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney issued the following statement about the vice president's visit:

"Instead of Joe Biden coming here to ask hard-working taxpayers to fill the pockets of Obama's re-election campaign, Biden and Obama should be in Tennessee to learn how real leadership can balance a budget, cut taxes, and encourage job growth- something our Republican leadership understands.

"Obama and Biden don't have a positive record to run on, so all they can hope for is a whole lot of cash to finance their campaign of more distractions and diversions, not solutions and leadership."
