Posted: Updated:

A car crash Friday morning seriously injured a driver, closing portions of Interstate 65 South in Millersville.

Around 7 a.m., a driver was headed south on I-65 but wrecked near exit 108, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Miller.

The car hit a boulder that sent the vehicle into the air, throwing the driver through the sun roof. The car rolled a few times and caught on fire.

The driver of the car was taken by LifeFlight Helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville in serious condition.

The northbound lanes had to be shut interstate for about 15 minute for LifeFlight to land.

At 7:50 a.m., the southbound lanes were backed up almost to Highway 52.  All lanes are expected to be open by 11 a.m.
