NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Investigators have charged a Nashville man in the January strangulation death of his girlfriend.

Jontay D. Johns, 29, is accused of killing Jennifer Fitts, 32, inside her Lynmeade Court home. She was found dead on January 13 by her aunt who went to the home after not hearing from her in several days, police said.

Johns, who had been jailed since March 12 on unrelated charges after alleged attacks on a different woman, is now charged with first-degree murder in Fitts' death.

In addition, Johns faces charges of aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

He is jailed on $600,000 bond, and a hearing date has not yet been set.
