Nashville event to honor breast cancer survivors

Posted: Updated:

Breast cancer affects so many people these days, so chances are you know a survivor or what is called a "co-survivor" - someone who's been there every step of the way with a patient.

Now, a special day is planned for area survivors, and it also happens to be on Kentucky Derby Day.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is sponsoring the survivors' celebration in downtown Nashville, and there are still tickets available.

If you know someone who has been through breast cancer and deserves a special day, plan to attend Off to the Races, set for Saturday, May 5, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cellar One on Second Avenue.

Channel 4's Demetria Kalodimos is the event's emcee and said she needs to find a great looking hat. It wouldn't hurt if it was pink, of course.
