NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Metro police have arrested a Hermitage woman they say abused a child she was babysitting by inserting a brush handle into the child's rectum.
Becky Burlison, 39, is accused of twice inserting the three- to four-inch brush handle. She told police she did this to relieve what she believed to be the 2-year-old boy's constipation.
On the second time, the brush's handle broke and became lodged inside the child's body, police said.
After he was taken to an area hospital, the child was able to pass the handle as doctors were preparing for surgery, police said.
Burlison is charged with two counts of aggravated child rape and felony child abuse.
