Crime Stoppers: "Grab 'n Go" Duo Targets Jewelry Stores

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WRCB-TV) - This week's criminal pair have an eye for flashy jewelry and the way they commit their crimes is not violent, but is effective. "Kind of a smash and grab deal," said Sgt. Rebecca Shelton of CPD Property Crimes.

It is more like grab and go. Surveillance pictures show the two in Sam Edwards Jewelers on November 17th, last year, trying to look every bit like casual customers. They ask to see expensive rings. "And when the clerk there, when they pulled out the rings for them to look at, they snatched the rings and fled," explained Sgt. Shelton.

The dapperly dressed duo pulled this scheme at at least two stores: Sam Edwards on Gunbarrel Road and at Zales in Hixson's Northgate Mall on November 14th. That store is positioned at the corner of the center court, inside the Appleby's entrance, so their escape would have included a long run out of the mall into the parking lot. "There was a car involved and we checked that out," Shelton said. "And the victim there advises they don't know who took the car."

Have a look at the pictures. The crook in the stylish sweater-vest has been identified as Dana Hicks, of Chattanooga. He is still on the run. His accomplice appears to be a black male wearing a ball cap, blue jeans, and a red and blue plaid shirt. Both of these guys face charges for theft over a thousand bucks. There is free, honest cash for you if you know where either can be found.

Call Crime Stoppers: 423-698-3333

It is a confidential call. An officer may answer the phone, but you never have to give your identity. If you can help, there is up to a thousand dollars waiting.
