Atlanta Braves reliever Martinez charged with DUI

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Cristhian Martinez has been charged with drunken driving.

Gwinnett County police Cpl. Jake Smith says Martinez's blood alcohol level was 0.13 when he was arrested early Monday on Interstate 85. The legal limit in Georgia is 0.08 percent.

He also faces charges of impeding the flow of traffic and improper lane change.

Records show Martinez was booked at the Gwinnett County Detention Center at 4:24 a.m. and released at 10:41 a.m. after paying a bond of $1,627. The team didn't immediately comment.

He's the second Atlanta pitcher in less than a year to be arrested on DUI charges. Derek Lowe, who now pitches for the Cleveland Indians, was arrested for DUI in April 2011 in Atlanta, but charges were dropped a few weeks later.
