CHATTANOOGA (UTC) -- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Stephan Jaeger was named Southern Conference Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Linger Longer Invitational over the weekend.

Jaeger finished third overall at six-under par 210 with rounds of 68, 74 and 68.

He beat seven nationally-ranked players, including No. 5 Stuart Thomas of Alabama, who is a fellow Ben Hogan Award candidate. It was his sixth top 10 finish, fourth in the top five this season.

Jaeger led Chattanooga to a third-place team finish in a field that included six top 50 programs, five if which are in the top 31. His two rounds of 68 gives him 24 for his career which is a new Mocs mark passing former teammate Derek Rende (2007-10). He had an eagle, 11 birdies and 35 pars over his 54 holes with just seven bogeys.

It's the fourth time Jaeger has earned the award. He won three straight last year from March 23 through April 6. His four Golfer of the Week awards are a new school record on the men's side.

Jaeger defends his title this weekend at the LSU National Invitational in Baton Rouge, La. He led the Mocs to a runner-up finish while winning medalist honors by seven shots at seven-under par 209. The tourney starts with 36 holes on Saturday and concludes with 18 on Sunday.
